Lazzaroni Amaretto cherries (amarene)

Whole sour cherries candied in syrup and flavoured with Amaretto Lazzaroni, the liqueur born from the same recipe as the amaretti of Saronno. The fruit stays firm under the tooth; the syrup is dark and thick.

Use them where they earn their place: over ice cream, in a bowl of whipped cream, beside a board of aged cheeses, or in a cocktail instead of the industrial maraschino. A jar to keep in sight, not at the back of the cupboard.
